الجيريان اكسبرس: ضمن الجهود الرامية لحماية الزرافة البيضاء الوحيدة المعروفة في العالم من الصيادين بكينيا، تمّ تزويد الحيوان النادر بجهاز تحديد المواقع العالمي.

وقالت منظمة “إسحاقيني هيرولا” للحفاظ على البيئة في بيان، الثلاثاء، إن الزرافة البيضاء باتت الآن بمفردها بعد مقتل أنثى وعجلها على يد صيادين في مارس.

وسيعمل جهاز تحديد المواقع العالمي، المرفق بأحد قرون الزرافة، بإجراء اختبار اتصال كل ساعة لتنبيه حراس الحياة البرية إلى موقعها، حسبما ذكرت “الأسوشيتد برس”.

وتتسبب سمة وراثية نادرة تسمى “اللوسيزم” في اللون الأبيض للزرافة، التي تواجه خطر الصيد الجائر في السافانا القاحلة بالقرب من الحدود الصومالية.

وقتل صيادون غير شرعيين في كينيا الزرافة البيضاء الوحيدة في العالم وعجلها، حيث عثر على جيفتي الزرافتين البيضاوين، اللتين لم يتم الإبلاغ عن مشاهدة مثلهما في أي بلد آخر في العالم “هيكلين عظميين بعدما قتلهما صيادون غير شرعيين” في محمية في غاريسا في شمال شرقي كينيا.
