الجيريان اكسبرس: سجل المعهد الوطني لأبحاث الفضاء في البرازيل، نشوب أكثر من 2200 حريق في منطقة الأمازون خلال مايو الماضي.

وهذا يزيد بـ20 في المئة تقريبا عما كان عليه في الفترة ذاتها من العام السابق، ويمثل أكبر عدد من الحرائق منذ يونيو 2007.

يذكر أن نحو ثلاثة ملايين شخص من سكان البرازيل الأصليين يسكنون في تلك الغابات وهم يعانون من خطر تفشي فيروس كورونا المستجد “كوفيد-19”.

وسبق أن دقت رابطة الشعوب الأصلية في البرازيل ناقوس الخطر، مع ارتفاع معدل الوفيات الناجمة عن فيروس كورونا بين الشعوب الأصلية، لأكثر من 5 أضعافه في شهر واحد.

وأكدت منظمة APIB التي تجمع تحت مظلتها 305 قبائل في البرازيل، أن حصيلة الوفيات بفيروس كورونا بين السكان الأصليين بلغت بحلول الأول من يونيو الجاري 182 حالة، بعدما كانت عند 28 في نهاية أبريل الماضي.

ويخشى الأطباء من أن المجتمعات الأصلية في البرازيل التي لا تتوفر لديها الرعاية الصحية الأساسية، باتت معرضة لخطر الاندثار بسبب تفشي كورونا فيها.
