الجيريان اكسبرس: أطاح محتجون ينزلون للشوارع في بورتلاند بولاية أوريغون لليلة الثانية والعشرين على التوالي، الخميس، بتمثال لجورج واشنطن والذي تم نصبه في عشرينيات القرن الماضي.

ووضع المتظاهرون ملصقا على رأس التمثال كتب عليه “أنت على أرض السكان الأصليين” ورسموا أيضا على قاعدة التمثال.

 

وقال مكتب شرطة بورتلاند يوم الجمعة إن مجموعة أصغر انشقت عن عدة مئات من المتظاهرين السلميين مساء الخميس وألقت الهوت دوغ الساخن على الشرطة وقطعت سياجا محاطا بمركز العدالة، الذي كان نقطة اشتعال المظاهرات الليلية حول مقتل جورج فلويد.

وأشعلت مجموعة أخرى حريقا حول تمثال واشنطن قبل الإطاحة به. ولم يتم القبض على أحد.

في وقت سابق من الأسبوع، قام المتظاهرون في جامعة أوريغون في يوجين بتشويه تمثالين يمثلان الرواد البيض.

وطال هدم وإزالة التماثيل عدة ولايات أميركية، حيث اعتبر المحتجون أنها ترمز إلى حقبة تجارة الرقيق.

وكانت رئيسة مجلس النواب الأميركي نانسي بيلوسي دعت لإزالة تماثيل لشخصيات أخرى، وهو ما اعترض عليه الرئيس دونالد ترامب.
