أصدرت وكالة سلامة الغذاء التابعة للاتحاد الأوروبي، الخميس، أن “الديدان آمنة للأكل”.

ونشرت المنظمة، ومقرها مدينة بارما الإيطالية، تقريرا علميا حول سلامة الديدان الصفراء المجففة للأكل.

وقال الباحثون إن الديدان، سواء أكلت كاملة أو في شكل مسحوق، هي وجبة خفيفة غنية بالبروتين أو مكوّنا لأطعمة أخرى.

وأشار التقرير إلى إمكانية حدوث تفاعلات تحسسية، اعتمادا على نوع التغذية المقدمة للحشرات، والمعروفة رسميا باسم يرقة “تينبريو مولتور”.
وخلصت الوكالة إلى أن “الطعام الجديد” آمن بشكل عام في ظل الاستخدامات المقترحة ومستويات الاستخدام، حسبما نقلت الأسوشيتد برس.

ونتيجة لذلك، أجاز الاتحاد الأوروبي تناول الديدان بنفس الطريقة التي دافعت بها منظمة الأغذية والزراعة التابعة للأمم المتحدة في عام 2013 عن الحشرات الصالحة للأكل كغذاء قليل الدسم وعالي البروتين للأفراد والحيوانات الأليفة والماشية، فضلا عن كونه مفيدا للبيئة، ويساعد في إطعام الجياع.
