أحصت الولايات المتحدة مليون إصابة جديدة بكوفيد-19 في أقل من أسبوع، وتجاوزت الأحد عتبة الـ11 مليون إصابة بالفيروس، حسب جامعة جونز هوبكنز.

وكانت الولايات المتحدة تخطت عتبة العشرة ملايين إصابة بكوفيد-19 في التاسع من نوفمبر.

ويوم الاثنين الساعة 01:30 توقيت غرينيتش (الأحد مساءً بالتوقيت المحلّي)، أي بعد 6 أيّام فقط، بات العدد الإجماليّ للإصابات في البلاد يبلغ 11.025.046، وفق إحصاءات جونز هوبكنز.

وسُجّل أيضًا ما مجموعه 246.108 وفيات في البلاد جرّاء الفيروس.

ولا تزال الولايات المتحدة الدولة الأكثر تضرّرًا من الجائحة في العالم، ويبدو أنّ مسار الأمور آخذ في التدهور منذ بداية نوفمبر، ما أجبر السلطات على اتّخاذ إجراءات جديدة.

وسيُفرض في شيكاغو، ثالث مدن البلاد، إغلاق اعتبارًا من الإثنين.

أمّا نيويورك التي تضرّرت بشدّة من الفيروس في الربيع، فتسعى إلى مواجهة موجة وبائيّة جديدة عبر فرض تدابير إضافيّة على الحانات والمطاعم، على أن تُبقي المدارس مفتوحة.
