الجيريان اكسبرس: قال المدير العام لمنظمة الصحة العالمية، تيدروس أدهانوم غيبريسوس، الثلاثاء، إن لقاحا ضد كوفيد-19 ربما يكون جاهزا بحلول نهاية العام.

وأضاف في ختام اجتماع استمر يومين للمجلس التنفيذي للمنظمة بشأن الجائحة “سنحتاج إلى لقاحات وثمة أمل أن يكون لدينا لقاح بنهاية هذا العام”.

وهناك 9 لقاحات تجريبية لدى مبادرة كوفاكس، التي تقودها منظمة الصحة العالمية وتهدف إلى توزيع ملياري جرعة لقاح واقية من كوفيد-19 بحلول نهاية 2021.

وفي وقت سابق، أكد خبير في منظمة الصحة العالمية أن وضع فيروس كورونا في منطقة الشرق الأوسط مثير للقلق، وأن ملايين الناس ما زالوا عرضة لخطر الفيروس الذي أودى بحياة نحو مليون إنسان في مختلف أنحاء العالم.

وقال استشاري الوبائيات في منظمة الصحة العالمية، أمجد الخولي، في حديث خاص مع “سكاي نيوز عربية”، إن وضع فيروس كورونا، المسبب لوباء كوفيد- 19، في إقليم شرق المتوسط، “مقلق بشدة” بعد أن سجَّل ارتفاعاً في أعداد الإصابات قدرت بنحو 2.3 مليون حالة، و60 ألف حالة وفاة، وذلك بعد 9 أشهر من رصده في الصين.
