تخطت الإصابات الناجمة عن فيروس كورونا في الولايات المتحدة حاجزا جديدا، السبت، لتبقى البلاد في صدار دول العالم من حيث عدد الإصابات والوفيات من جراء مرض كوفيد-19.

وأشارت صحيفة “نيويورك تايمز” الأميركية إلى أن العدد الإجمالي للإصابات بفيروس كورونا في الولايات المتحدة تجاوز 12 مليون حالة، ليصل إلى 12 ملونا ونحو 290 ألف إصابة.

وسجلت الولايات المتحدة أمس الجمعة ما يزيد عن 198 ألف إصابة، وهو رقم قياسي لم يسبق للبلاد أن عرفته منذ بدء انتشار الجائحة مطلع العام الجاري.

وتأتي هذه الأرقام بالتزامن مع تحذيرات متصاعدة في الآونة الأخيرة من ضغط كبير قد تتعرض له المستشفيات والطواقم الطبية في البلاد، وهو ما ينتظر أن تزداد وتيرته خلال فصل الشتاء الحالي.

وبلغ عدد الوفيات في الولايات المتحدة من جراء فيروس كورونا حتى الآن أكثر من 260 ألف وفاة، تليها البرازيل بأكثر من 168 ألف وفاة، ثم الهند بأكثر من 132 ألف وفاة.
