ألجيريان اكسبرس: أعلن قصر كينزنجتون يوم الجمعة أن تمثالا جديدا للأميرة ديانا سيقام في القصر في يوليو تموز المقبل، فيما كان يفترض أن يكون عيد ميلادها الستين، بعد تأجيل بسبب جائحة كورونا.

وفي 2017 قال الأميران وليام وهاري إنهما طلبا نحت تمثال تكريما لوالدتهما، التي توفيت في حادث سيارة في باريس منذ ما يربو على 20 عاما، لوضعه أمام قصر كينزنجتون، المقر الرسمي للأمير وليام في لندن.

واختارا في وقت لاحق من ذلك العام النحات إيان رانك برودلي لصنع التمثال إحياء للذكرى العشرين لوفاة ديانا. وسبق أن صنع برودلي صورة الملكة إليزابيث المستخدمة على العملات المعدنية البريطانية.

كان وليام يبلغ من العمر 15 عاما عندما توفيت والدته بينما كان عمر هاري 12 عاما.

ودُشن أول نصب تذكاري لديانا، وهو نافورة يبلغ طولها 210 أمتار، في هايد بارك في 2004 بعد أعوام من التعقيدات الروتينية والخلافات بشأن التصميم.
