الجيريان اكسبرس:أعلن بنك إنجلترا اليوم الخميس، أنه سيزيل لوحات وصور محافظين ومديرين سابقين للبنك كانوا مرتبطين بتجارة العبيد.

وجاء في بيان البنك المركزي الذي بني مقره قبل 325 سنة: “كمؤسسة، لم يسبق لبنك إنجلترا أن تورط في تجارة الرقيق، لكنه مدرك لبعض الاتصالات التي لا تغتفر (بتجارة العبيد) لمحافظين ومديرين سابقين، والبنك يعتذر عن ذلك”.

وأضاف البيان: “لقد شرع البنك في مراجعة شاملة لمجموعته الخاصة بصور المحافظين والمديرين السابقين، لضمان عدم عرض صورة أي واحد منهم له ارتباط بتجارة الرقيق”.

وشهدت الولايات المتحدة ودول أوروبية حالات متكررة من استهداف المحتجين تماثيل شخصيات تاريخية لها علاقة بالتمييز العنصري والعبودية والاستعمار.
