بعد شهور من إثارة القضية، وافقت شركة أبل الأميركية على دفع 113 مليون دولار لإنهاء تحقيق أجرته ولايات عدة، بشأن “إبطاء الشركة المتعمد” لإصدارات القديمة من هواتف آيفون، بدعوى المساعدة في إطالة بطارياتها.

وتنهي تلك التسوية المعلنة في ولاية أريزونا، الأربعاء، لتغلق ملف القضية التي رفعتها أكثر من 30 ولاية.

وكان عملاق التكنولوجيا قد وافق بالفعل على دفع ما يصل إلى 500 مليون دولار (378 مليون جنيه إسترليني) لتسوية دعوى قضائية جماعية مرفوعة في ولاية كاليفورنيا فيما يتعلق بالقضية ذاته.
ووافقت أبل على دفع التسويات بعد اعترافها بأن تحديث البرامج الذي تم إصداره في عام 2017 أعاق أداء أجهزة آيفون القديمة.

ودافعت الشركة عما فعلته معلنة أنه استهدف منع الإغلاق غير المقصود لأجهزة آيفون الأقدم مع تدهور حالة بطارياتها.

لكن مراقبين أكدوا أن الشركة فعلت ذلك لدفع المستهلكين إلى شراء أجهزة أحدث.

واعتذرت الشركة، ومقرها كوبرتينو، في كاليفورنيا، عن إبطاء سرعة الهواتف ووافقت على استبدال البطاريات بسعر مخفض للغاية.
