أثار إعلان رابطة الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز اليوم الثلاثاء عن رقم قياسي بعدد إصابات فيروس كورونا المستجد بين اللاعبين خلال الأسبوع الماضي، القلق حول إمكانية إيقاف المسابقة.

وأوضحت رابطة “البريميرليغ” أنه تم إجراء 1207 فحوص للاعبين والمدربين والموظفين خلال 9 إلى 15 من شهر نوفمبر الجاري، وهذا أقل عدد فحوصات منذ بداية الموسم، والسبب في ذلك هو انضمام العديد من اللاعبين إلى منتخبات بلادهم.

وأضاف التقرير أنه رغم عدد الفحوصات القليل هذا الأسبوع مقارنة بالأسابيع الماضية، إلا أنه تم تسجيل 16 حالة إيجابية، وهو رقم قياسي لم يسبق تسجيله من قبل، وبالتالي بدأ ناقوس الخطر يهدد بالفعل مستقبل الدوري الإنجليزي.

وألمحت صحيفة ديلي ميرور البريطانية أن هناك نية للتوجه نحو الإيقاف مستقبلا بعد أن بدأت الأمور تأخذ منعطفا سلبيا بارتفاع أعداد المصابين في الدوري الإنجليزي.

وأوضحت الصحيفة في تقريرها أن ارتفاع عدد الإصابات أسبوع بعد الآخر سيفتح قضية إنسانية، كما سيزداد النقاش حول مدى أخلاقية الاستمرار بلعب كرة القدم إن استمرت الإصابات بالارتفاع خلال الفترة القادمة.
