كشفت صحيفة “غارديان” البريطانية أن كوكب المريخ سيكون هذا الأسبوع الأقرب إلى الأرض خلال الـ15 سنة المقبلة.

وأوضحت الصحيفة أن الكوكب الأحمر سيكون يوم السادس من أكتوبر على بعد 62.1 مليون كيلومتر من الأرض، وهي المسافة التي لن يقترب منها المريخ إلا في عام 2035.

ويقع المريخ حاليا في شمال خط الاستواء، وهو موضع مثالي يسمح برؤيته بوضوح من نصفي الكرة الأرضية، سواء بواسطة التلسكوبات أو من دونها.

ويتوقع علماء أن يكون الكوكب ساطعا وكبير الحجم، وقد تسنح الفرصة أيضا لرؤية كوكبي المشتري وزحل.

ويفسر الخبراء هذه الظاهرة بالقول إن الأرض والمريخ يدوران في مدارين مختلفين حول الشمس، وخلال دورانهما يقتربان من بعضهما البعض في نقاط معينة.

يذكر أنه في عام 2003، اقترب الكوكبان لمسافة 55.7 مليون كيلومتر فقط. وفي 2018، فصلت بينهما مسافة 57.6 مليون كيلومتر.
