الجيريان اكسبرس: في حصيلة قياسية يومية منذ أشهر، سجلت الولايات المتحدة، الجمعة، نحو 80 ألف إصابة جديدة بفيروس كورونا المستجد خلال 24 ساعة، حسب إحصاءات جامعة “جونز هوبكنز” المرجعية التي تحدث بياناتها باستمرار.

وأحصت البلاد 79 ألفا و963 إصابة جديدة، مما يرفع إجمالي عدد الإصابات على أراضيها إلى نحو 8.5 ملايين منذ بداية الجائحة.

وكانت الولايات المتحدة بلغت بالفعل عتبة الثمانين ألف إصابة يوميا خلال شهر يوليو الماضي، لا سيما بسبب بؤر إصابة في ولايات جنوبية مثل تكساس وفلوريدا، حيث كان الفيروس حينها خارجا عن السيطرة.

والآن تسجل أسوأ حالات تفش للفيروس شمالي البلاد وفي الغرب الأوسط، في وقت تشهد به نحو 35 ولاية من أصل 50 زيادة في عدد الإصابات.

وبقي عدد الوفيات على مدار 24 ساعة مستقرا على نطاق واسع منذ بداية الخريف، مع تسجيل ما بين 700 و800 حالة وفاة جديدة.

وفي الإجمالي، توفي أكثر من 223 ألف شخص في البلاد من جراء الفيروس.
