أعلنت عائلة زعيم المعارضة في مالي سومايلا سيسي، اليوم الجمعة، أنه توفي جراء إصابته بفيروس كورونا المستجد “كوفيد-19″ وذلك عقب شهرين من إطلاق سراحه بعد تعرضه لعملية اختطاف من قبل ارهابيين.

وبحسب تقارير إعلامية، نقلا عن أحد أفراد عائلته، فإن سومايلا سيسي صاحب الـ71 عاما، توفي في فرنسا عقب نقله إليها لتلقي العلاج بعدما أصيب بفيروس كورونا”.

و أكد مسؤول في حزب “الاتحاد من أجل الجمهورية و الديمقراطية” الذي ينتمي إليه سومايلا سيسي خبر وفاته الذي تلقاه من زوجته، حسبما أوضح في تصريح لوكالة الانباء الفرنسية.

وكان قد تم اختطاف سومايلا سيسي في 25 مارس الماضي خلال مشاركته في الحملة الانتخابية في معقله الانتخابي “نيافونكي” بمنطقة “تمبكتو” تحسبا للانتخابات التشريعية، في عملية وصفت بأنها ” غير مسبوقة” تطال شخصية سياسية بهذا المستوى.

و تم اطلاق سراح زعيم المعارضة في مالي في شهر أكتوبر الماضي في اطار صفقة لتبادل الرهائن.
