حذر الناطق الرسمي للجنة العلمية، جمال فورار أن الإصابة بفیروس كوفيد-19 لدى المُصاب بالسمنة تزيد من خطر الوفاة.

ووصف فورار في كلمة ألقاها بمناسبة اليوم العالمي الموحد لمكافحة السمنة، اجتماع الإصابة بكورونا مع السمنة بـ “الخطر القاتل”، مبرزا أن عدم التوازن بین الطاقة المُتحصل عليها وصرفھا يُؤدي إلى زيادة الكتلة الدسمة.

وفي ذات الصدد، قدم المدير العام للوقاية بوزارة الصحة إحصائيات الإصابات بالسمنة لدى مختلف الشرائح، حيث سجلت الإصابات بالسمنة لدى الأطفال الذين أعمارھم أقل من 5 سنوات بنسبة تتراوح بین 12 و14 بالمائة خلال سنة 2013 بعد أن كانت 9 بالمائة في 2007، والتي استقرت خلال سنة 2020.

أما بالنسبة للبالغین الذين تتراوح أعمارھم بین 18 و69 سنة، فقد بلغت نسبة المصابین بزيادة الوزن 6.55 بالمائة -حسب فورار-.

كما شدد المسؤول ذاته أن وزارة الصحة وضعت مخططا وطنیا استراتجیا متعدد القطاعات للوقاية ومكافحة عوامل خطر الأمراض الغیر متنقلة، مبرزا أن محوره الاستراتیجي ترقیة الأكل الصحي الذي يھدف إلى الوقاية من السمنة لدى السكان.
