قالت صحيفة واشنطن بوست (Washington Post) إن إدارة الرئيس الأميركي جو بايدن ستنشر خلال الأيام القليلة المقبلة تقريرا استخباراتيا بشأن دور ولي العهد السعودي الأمير محمد بن سلمان في مقتل الصحفي جمال خاشقجي.

ونقلت الصحيفة عن مصادر وصفت بالمطلعة أن التقرير عبارة عن ملخص غير سري لنتائج استخباراتية بشأن مقتل خاشقجي، وأشارت إلى أن نشره قد يجعل الأجواء مشحونة أكثر بين إدارة بايدن والرياض.

وذكرت الصحيفة أن إدارة بايدن طلبت من محكمة في نيويورك تمديد مهلة حتى الشهر المقبل من أجل رفع السرية عن جميع السجلات الخاصة بمقتل خاشقجي والمسؤول عن قتله، وتقرير وكالة الاستخبارات المركزية الأميركي (CIA) بشأن الحادثة.

وكانت المديرة الجديدة للاستخبارات الوطنية الأميركية أفريل هينز قد تعهدت أمام الكونغرس بأن تلتزم بالقانون تماما وتكشف للمشرعين عن تقييم دوائر الاستخبارات بشأن من كان وراء مقتل خاشقجي داخل القنصلية السعودية في إسطنبول عام 2018.
