قال رئيس الوزراء الكندي جاستن ترودو يوم السبت إن كندا والولايات المتحدة اتفقتا على تمديد القيود المفروضة على الحدود لمدة 30 يوما أخرى.

كانت واشنطن وأوتاوا اتفقتا الشهر الماضي على فرض قيود على السفر غير الضروري مع السماح باستمرار التجارة عبر حدودهما المشتركة الممتدة لمسافة طويلة خلال انتشار فيروس كورونا.

وكان من المقرر انتهاء مدة القيود الأسبوع المقبل. وقال موقع إخباري حكومي إن حصيلة الوفيات بسبب فيروس كورونا المستجد في كندا ارتفعت بنسبة ثمانية في المئة وبلغت 1346 حالة. وارتفعت حالات الإصابة المؤكدة بنسبة ستة في المئة ووصلت إلى 32412 حالة.

وقال ترودو إن كندا ستدعم شركات السكان الأصليين بمبلغ 306 ملايين دولار كندي كقروض دون فوائد ومبالغ لا ترد.

وخصصت أوتاوا إجمالا 115 مليار دولار كندي (82.15 مليار دولار) في صورة إنفاق مباشر لمساعدة الشركات والأفراد على مواجهة تبعات إجراءات العزل العام بسبب كورونا.
