محمد رابح – ألجيريان إكسبرس – يقوم العلماء في جامعات بنسلفانيا والمملكة المتحدة على تدريب الكلاب على استنشاق فيروس كورونا، من أجل الكشف عن المرضى وإحداث ثورة في اختبار الفيروس.

وأشارت تقارير إعلامية أمريكية، أنه من المحتمل أن يتم استخدام الكلاب لفحص الأشخاص في المطارات والشركات والمستشفيات لمنع انتشار العامل الممرض، وفقا للباحثين في جامعة بنسلفانيا وكلية لندن للصحة والطب الاستوائي.

وقال جيمس لوجان، رئيس قسم مكافحة الأمراض في جامعة لندن، لصحيفة “واشنطن بوست”، إن الكلاب المطيعة “يمكن أن تحدث ثورة في ردنا على COVID-19”.

وأضاف “يمكن لكل كلب أن يفحص ما يصل إلى 250 شخصا في الساعة ونحن نعمل في الوقت نفسه على نموذج يمكن نشره في بلدان أخرى في موانئ الدخول والمطارات.”

وفي جامعة بنسلفانيا، بدأ تدريب ثمانية كلاب من نوع لابرادور ريتريفر لتحديد رائحة مقابلة مكافأة غذاء، وفقا لصحيفة “واشنطن بوست”.

وستدرب الكلاب بعد ذلك على عينات البول واللعاب التي تم جمعها من المرضى الذين كشفت الفحوصات أنهم سلبيون أو إيجابيون لـ COVID-19.
