وافق مجلس النواب المصري بالأغلبية على قرار الرئيس المصري، عبد الفتاح السيسي، بمد حالة الطوارئ في جميع أنحاء البلاد لمدة ثلاثة أشهر.
وجاء في نص قرار الرئيس المصري الذي وافق عليه مجلس النواب، أنه تم اتخاذه نظرا للظروف الأمنية والصحية الخطيرة التي تمر بها البلاد، وأنه بعد أخذ رأي مجلس الوزراء تمد حالة الطوارئ في جميع أنحاء البلاد لمدة ثلاثة أشهر، تبدأ اعتبار من الساعة الواحدة من صباح الأحد الموافق 24 يناير 2021.

ونص القرار في مادته الثانية على أن تتولى القوات المسلحة والشرطة اتخاذ ما يلزم لمواجهة الإرهاب وتمويله وحماية الممتلكات العامة والخاصة وحفظ أرواح المواطنين، ويفوض رئيس الوزراء في اختصاصات رئيس الجمهورية المنصوص عليها في قانون الطوارئ.
